Christmas Past….

As I get ready to celebrate an amazing Christmas with my growing family, I thought I would reflect on the years past when I was a kid.  Christmas was always an amazing time at our house! 

We spent Christmas Eve with my late Grandma McTee (Warren) and she always delivered with an incredible meal!  My dads side of the family would be in attendance, and there was never a dull moment.  All of us kids would run around the house, drink as much Pepsi as we could (Grandma always had CASES of Pepsi at the house) and play with whatever gifts were given to us that year.  It was a lot of fun and I always enjoyed that time with my cousins and especially Grandma. When we got back from Grandmas we would open our customary Christmas Eve present, which was always Christmas PJ’s.  Hated it at times as a kid, but doing it now with my family!

Christmas morning was spent with my moms side of the family.  My brother and I would try, every single year, to stay awake all night until Christmas morning.  To be honest I think the latest we ever succeeded was like 12:30am.  If that anticipation wasn’t enough, we also had to wait till Grandma and Grandpa Lucas got to our house to open presents.  Can you imagine as a little kid, and even a grown teenager, having to wait even longer after you wake up on Christmas day?? Zack and I would always sleep in the same room together that night and yell all morning long “Can we come out now!!” Grandparents would arrive and we would tear into the gifts all morning long.  Afterwards we did a big breakfast with my Grandparents and my Moms sister and her family. 

Christmas afternoon was spent with all the neighborhood kids showing off what you got.  When we lived on 27th street there were TONS of kids in the neighborhood and we all ran the streets together that day playing with each others new gifts.

Christmas was always special at our house and as I got older I loved the Candle Light services we went to before hand.  My parents always seemed to go out of their way to make it special for my brother and I, yet to always make sure we were appreciative of what we had and that the true meaning of Christmas was, the birth of Christ and giving to others. 

KC Chiefs

Today the KC Chiefs make history by beating the Raiders so bad that it will be deemed “Christmas Eve blood bath”  When the Raiders leave Arrowhead this afternoon, they will be covered in Red and Gold and will miss out on the playoffs, yet again!  Chiefs will get some help today from the Bills and the cold weather in Buffalo and will win the AFC West, yet again, next weekend in Denver! 

Going to be a great Christmas weekend and week with the Chiefs winning the title and hosting a playoff game!

Christmas

I pray that everyone has an amazing Christmas and realizes how blessed they really are!  I’m blessed beyond belief with 2 gorgeous kids, an obnoxiously awesome dog, and a beautiful wife who is hands down the BEST mom and wife in the world.  This year has had it’s ups and downs but overall God has ALWAYS taken care of my families needs and has provided for us continually.

Looking forward to 2012 and the excitement that it is going to bring.  2012 is going to be, as the kids say, EPIC and LEGIT!
