The financial future of Facebook
The financial situation at the popular networking site Facebook, is about to SKYROCKET!! Why do you ask? Well in my opinion it will be because of one woman. I would like you all to meet Sheryl Sandberg. She is one of the main reasons that Google is so profitable and has done so well. Her main goal at Facebook is to help the company “grow up”. In February of 2007 Facebook had 24.8 million visitors to the site. In February of 2008 that number jumped 300% to 100 million visitors! Sheryl plans on developing the marketing side of the business to help the popular site turn more of a profit. The problem, as is the case with most web 2.0 applications, is figuring out a way to generate “Large” amounts of income. In 2007, Facebook revenues, as the article quotes, were just 150 million. In my opinion not a bad year for the 23 year old who owns it! Facebook started in a dorm room, and now has over 550 employees! Sheryl Sandberg will turn this successful business into a Marketing Cash Cow!! Watch over the next year and see what happens to Facebook, should be very interesting!
