Identity Theft
Yep, its true! Just today in fact, I was a victim of identity theft. This morning I was checking the bank account when I noticed a charge for $100.00 from some billing company. I called the 800 number listed on the charge and after a short time on hold I talked to this nice lady. The conversation went like this.
“Hello, thank you for calling the card processing center how may I help you?”
“Yes maam, my name is Tim McTee and I am trying to find out about this charge on my account for $100.00. Can you help me with this?”
“Of course Mr. McTee I would be happy to do that for you. It’s probably something your wife bought and you just don’t know about it, hehehe”
“I don’t think so lady, my wife doesn’t buy gum without asking me! Can you help me or not I’m very busy”
“Yes sir. Can I have the account number that this was charged to?”
“It is….3333 3333 3333 3333.”
“Ok, Mr. McTee it looks like this charge was for some poker chips.”
“Poker chips???”
“Yes sir it is for a online gambling community and the recipient of the chips was a Mr. Vincent Van Gogh. That doesn’t sound like you now does it?”
“No shit it ain’t me! You guys just ship stuff out to anyone? I need my account refunded immediately!
“Yes sir Mr. McTee, I apologize for this. It looks like they got your card number right, but not your name. This will be refunded in 24 hours.”
“I guess all they need is my card number, maybe next time you get an order for Mickey Mouse, you should think hard about shipping it. Might not really be the Mickster himself. Thanks for your help!”
Can you believe this? I can only laugh about this because its so fricken comical. People are so stupid! Below is a picture of the recipient of the poker chips.
